Chant Hagopian

Chant’s passion for business administration led him to hold the position of Operations Manager at HATCO for 24 years, as he worked hard to support his little family. On August 4, 2020, he went to the roof of his building to watch the fire at the Port of Beirut when the explosion happened and pushed him off his place. He was found dead one and a half hours later.

Amin Saadeddine Zahed

Amin worked as a supervisor at CBTC company. As soon as he heard of the fire at the port of Beirut, he rushed to evacuate two of his friends who were caught up in the flames, but the warehouse exploded and he was killed instantly. His family spent the next week looking for him until they found him dead at Zahraa Hospital.

Ali Ismail Shahata

Ali worked at a gas station in Mar Mikhael – Beirut. He spent his life away from his country to provide for his family. Ali sustained a head injury that killed him as a result of the blast on August 4, 2020. He was one of three Egyptian citizens killed in the Beirut explosion.

Abdul Rahman Bachnati

Abdul Rahman Bachnati, Lebanese born in 1976, is a civil defense volunteer. On August 4, 2020, he left his coffee cart and joined his teammates at the fire department as soon as he heard about a fire erupting in the port of Beirut. However, the intensity of the blast pushed a wooden cabinet on his body, his left leg was trapped under the rubble, and he developed gangrene. His health condition worsened day after day, and he needed an open-heart surgery he couldn’t afford (40 Million LBP). He spent the remainder of his days battling with pain until he passed away on September 27, 2022.
