On August 4, 2020, Salma was supposed to be in Kesserwan for the summer and not in their home in Achrafiye. However, to avoid the traffic she preferred to stay in Beirut. When the explosion happened, Salma was on the balcony, and she was pushed back towards the wall. She was evacuated to the hospital for treatment, but she passed away six months later.
