ولد شربل في ذوق مكايل، طفولته سرقت منه حين سرق السرطان أمه وكان لا يزال في عمر السبع سنوات. درس في مدرسة مار مخايل في ذوق مكايل حتى المرحلة الثانوية، لينتقل بعدها إلى الجامعة العربية المفتوحة ويتخصص في هندسة الاتصالات.

عمل شرطي سير في بلدية ذوق مكايل، ليتدبر قسط جامعته، وتقدم الى دورة لأمن الدولة ونجح والتحق بها. تنقل شربل في وظيفته الجديدة من مكان إلى آخر لينتهي به الأمر في مرفأ بيروت قبل الكارثة بشهرين. كانت الرياضة في حياة شربل من الأولويات: ممارسة الرياضة في النادي َ والمشي والركض هواية احب شربل ممارستها وواظب عليها كخبزه اليومي.

طموح شربل كطموح أي شاب في عمره: ان ينهي تخصصه في الجامعة، ليتقدم في وظيفته الى الأعلى، مع العلم ان شربل كان برتبة مأمور وكان سيترقى إلى رتبة عريف... بدلا من ذلك، ترقى الى مرتبة أعلى بفدائه الوطن بروحه.

تميز شربل بالنخوة، ولربما نخوته كانت السبب في فقدان حياته. طبعا انه الواجب الذي حَتّمَ عليه ألا يهرب بل ان يواجه الخطر، فشربل البطل الشجاع أنقذ العديد من رفاقه وكسر يده ولم يهرب او يتهرب.

في ٤ آب، لم يكن مفترضا بشربل أن يعمل. انه القدر الذي جعله يبدل مع رفيقه."

It was his sense of duty that led him to his death, the duty to stay and face the danger. Charbel, the brave hero, saved many of his friends and coworkers and broke his hand. Yet, he wouldn’t run away even if he could.

في اليوم التالي تم الاتصال بالعائلة من قبل شخص ابلغهم ان شربل في مستشفى رفيق الحريري، فذهبوا على أمل أن يجدوا شربل حيا، لكنهم تسلموه جثة هامدة من براد الموتى.

After the explosion, his aunt tried to call him but there was no answer. Contradicting news spread like fire, some reported the explosion was in Beit al Wassat, while others confirmed it was fireworks in the Port of Beirut. Charbel’s aunt felt even more anxious, and insisted her brother should go to the Port to check on his son. Both her and his father arrived onsite, but were denied entry. She contacted the major responsible for Charbel, and he told them he’s had minor injuries, easing the brutality of the news. However, patience in such cases is mostly agonizing. His aunt and family split in teams to look for him in hospitals across Lebanon. They kept searching until 3:00 AM, but he was nowhere to be found.
