The paper follows the main legal events of November and December 2021 day by day. It then explains political immunity: when a member of parliament enjoys it, what happens while a government is in caretaker status, and why it does not protect MPs outside the sessions of parliament.

Its conclusion: Judge Bitar's charges against MPs Khalil, Zeaiter and Machnouk outside parliament's sessions need no prior permission from parliament, so immunity cannot be used as a pretext to block their prosecution.
