Farida Khoury Ghosn

Farida was the only child of Farid and Nadia Njeime. She was lucky to be raised by a loving, affectionate family, and although she did not have the opportunity to pursue her education, her life experiences greatly enriched her.

Farida was married to Georges Khoury Ghosn, and they had three children, Graziella, Patricia and Patrick, and seven grandchildren.

"Foufou" as she was called, was a loyal wife and a perfect mother who raised educated children. She was sensitive, generous, loving, and a sweetheart. Despite her seventy-two years of age, she was still very active. She believed that God loved those who loved others, and thus devoted her life to help the poor and the needy, and she volunteered, for a while; with the Saint Antonios Association – Rmeil, near her home, helping the elderly.

On the afternoon of August 4, while she was home in Rmeil in Achrafieh, warehouse number 12 at the Port of Beirut exploded, wreaking havoc in most of Achrafieh. Farida's home was damaged, and furniture fell all over her body.. Minutes after the explosion, her son Patrick came back to his senses and saw his mother lying on the floor, bleeding heavily. He evacuated her with the help of the civil defense to Bellevue Medical Centre in Mansouriyeh, because it was impossible to treat her in nearby completely damaged hospitals. Farida died on her way to the hospital, and according to the medical report, her death is caused by a brain hemorrhage and heart complications.

Farida's body left her home and her loved ones, but her spirit remains a guiding force for everyone who loved her: "Do good deeds, and God will bless you…"
