Ibrahim Moustafa Hareb

On March 17, 1986, Ibrahim was born to Moustapha and Ibtihaj Harb. He grew up with his brother Mazen, and sister Dania, in Ashrafieh in Beirut.

He graduated as an Accountant from Beirut Arab University, and he was, throughout his childhood and university years, a happy, dynamic, peaceful young man. Ibrahim was known for his ethics, humility and good standing, he was one of the good guys.

He met his soulmate Dalia, with whom he got engaged ten days before the October 17 revolution in 2019. He was working hard in difficult economic conditions to finish works in his home before their wedding date, until the Beirut explosion blew up all his dreams, leaving him fighting for his life.

On the afternoon of August 4, 2020, Ibrahim was leaving the office on Foch street, in close proximity to the Port of Beirut, when a huge explosion rocked the city, and he was thrown out to the street soaking in his blood. He was evacuated to Rizk hospital suffering from a head injury, and remained unconscious for three months. When he woke from his coma, he opened his eyes and reacted to his family’s conversation, yet, unfortunately he could not talk back, nor move his legs. Ibrahim lived through the blast but, for the next 13 months, he survived on medication and painkillers.

In November 2020, he was transferred from Rizk Hospital to a specialized rehabilitation center (Khaled Foundations), where he stayed until September 2021 as his condition stabilized. He was discharged to his family home 10 days before his passing, and his fiancée, a nurse at AUBMC, followed up on his physical therapy…

According to his brother Mazen, Ibrahim was getting better, he was reciting Al-Fatihah, and praying to God, but his condition deteriorated the day the Beirut explosion investigations were suspended. He was hospitalized and lost his life on the evening of September 27, 2021, succumbing to the pain, joining the long list of victims of the horrible port blast.
